Bangalore to Shettihalli church Trip by Bike

When: 6th Aug 2017.
Destination: Shettihalli Church - Karnataka
How and who all are: Solo (Apache 180)
Odometer reading: 530kms.
Route MapBangalore – Kunigal– Shettihalli – Kunigal – Bangalore.

Short and sweet description:
Best one day destination, but, Crowded on Weekends. I would suggest you to be there before sunrise. Those who are looking for best riding/driving experience, as usual this road is meant for that.

Travelogue:
I know, it’s a foolishness to expect best performance from the Bike which has covered 75000 kms in 4 and half years.
Unwanted noise from the engine, heavy vibrations making even everyday commute very uncomfortable.
Before deciding to sell this bike, I was looking for a proper time to go for a long trip.

It’s Saturday night,
Tomorrow is my Birthday.  As of now no plans for tomorrow.
While thinking about what to do..!!
Idea of enjoying my birthday on road trip has sounded much better.
Yeah, really it’s a nice idea.
But what about the bike? Will it give smooth and comfortable ride?
Kindof dilemma..!!
Anyway, from last 2-3months , I was planning to take it for ride and see its condition on long ride.
I feel, this is be a perfect time.
Considering bike and weather conditions, started searching for a destination within 250kms from Bangalore.
I’ve covered most of the suggested places. and this time doesn’t want to revisit any place.
After 2hours of search, finally decided to visit “Shettihalli Church” which is 230kms far.

Earlier, I’ve come across beautiful snaps of submerged church.
As it is Monsoon season, I’m expecting a similar view of Church.

Sunday:
Planned to getup early, but couldn’t able to. Finally started from Bangalore around 8am. Had breakfast and reached  Nice road tollgate at Electronic City by 8.30am.

The weather looks cloudy and Perfect for riding. Within 40mins reached  the other end of the nice road and took a diversion towards Nelamangala road.
Apart from vibrations, pickup is as usual. Riding at sweet spots 90-95kmph speed.

The first pit stop comes at a place after diverting towards towards Kunigal.
After 10mins of break, resumed the ride.

Cloudy day

The cloudy weather, romantic music playing in earphones are the best combination for empty roads. While enjoying the beautiful view of surroundings, had a look at the speedometer to check the speed.

Boom… I’m shocked to see “0 kmph” speed.
Shit, it took me sometime to realize that speedometer is not working.
and odometer too. :-(
Luckily came across a Mechanic after 2-3kms, quickly adjusted the wiring and get it fixed.

Even after adjusting the cable, it has worked for 1-2kms.
Instead of re-visiting the mechanic, decided to continue the ride without speedo and odometer. Good thing is Fuel meter is working. For time being that is more than enough.
With another break to have lunch, by 2.30pm I’ve reached Shettihalli Church.
The place looks beautiful with backwater of reservoir and mountains in the background.

Value of Time

Even though place is little crowded. Somehow managed to get nice snaps of it.
Light and pleasant wind started pulling me towards the water body. After taking a walk inside the church ,settled near the water.

The view of bridge, while sun rays playing hide and seek with the clouds made that moment picture perfect.  I’m sure, this place must be having breathtaking views during early mornings and Sunsets.

Usual Bird Photography :-)

Apart from church and views nothing much to do here. 2-3 hours is more than enough for this.
If managed to leave early from Bangalore, Shettihalli and Shravanabelagola can be covered in one day.

I wished to stay here till sunset.
But, as the bike started giving surprises, before it throws some more surprises, would like to reach Bangalore safely.

Said bye to the place and started riding towards the bridge.
Clicked some snaps of Church from Bridge and headed towards Bangalore.

Here are some more snaps from trip.
