Day3: Valparai - Pollachi - Munnar

Main Post: South India trip by Bike

Day 3: Feb 2nd 2013

Route map: Valparai - Polachi (Anamalai - Udumapet Rd) - Munnar

Travelogue:

"A Ride so close to the nature". Yess...!! The ride from Valparai to Munnar via Pollachi made me feel very close to nature. :)

Staying at "PON-HOMESTAY" @ Valparai has given me feeling of staying in my home :).

The dawn has just set in with an orange hue to sky, mist covered mountains in some parts and greenery all around. Good Morning from Valparai !!

All set for the ride from Valparai to Munnar to experience the 40hair pins which includes on the way. After having breakfast in Valparai, left the place around 9AM. As soon as we crossed Valaparai, we are welcomed by the road which has lush green tea estates on either side. The view was breathtaking an we couldn't control our self not to stop. Took some good snaps.

As we moved further then I came to know that, this was the same route which I read in someone's blog.. Most of the road was covered with Tea estates on either side. The stretch from Valparai to Munnar is probably the most scenic route we've covered, Famous for its tea gardens, Valparai amazed us.

The sight of a narrow road, snaking amidst lush green tea plantations has given a new definition for beautiful landscape. We took 3-4 hrs to cover 41kms of ghat section from Valparai. I hope that explains how many times we stopped enroute for putting my camera to use.

Whenever I've crossed a scenic place, I felt like missing the place and was willing to have one more look at that.. So I was looking at Bike's mirror to see that beauty again :). Trust me..!! That gives awesome feeling which you won't get even if you look at the snaps.

The amazing view of "Aliyar Reservoir Dam" from the Ghats was simply superb. With some stops for admiring the vistas around and soaking in the fresh air we descended from Valparai and took a single lane road to Munnar.

All over the way via single lane road, on right side we could see the huge mountains of Western ghats which we've descended.

After 30kms we've entered the "Anamalai Tiger reserve - Kerala". Once past the forest check point we stopped number of times, either for pics or just enjoying the quaint feel of the place.

The forest was very much dried.. but the view of valleys around was very scary.
We could hardly see vehicles in that route. After riding for an hour we have reached narrow roads which was covered with huge mountains on either side.
The view was breathtakingly beautiful. With tea plantations on both side of road, trees with purple leaves creating a contrast and water being showered all over the place with many sprinklers.
At last we have reached Munnar by 5PM. Covered 178Kms in 8 Hrs... Now you can imagine how much we enjoyed the ride from Valparai to Munnar.
This is one of the best ride I had till now. :)
